Thesis Binding

Binding a thesis is a fairly straightforward process. To begin, I will need a digital copy of your work and the specifications for your department.

Examples include:

  • Cover Material – leather or buckram
  • Size of the book
  • Single-sided vs. double-sided printing
  • Paper quality and color
  • Stamping for the Spine and Front Cover

Once we have all the details worked out, I will develop a plan to execute your project and circle back with you with an estimate and timeline for completion.

FAQ

How much will it cost?

Each project is different and there is no set price per volume. Determining factors for the final cost of your thesis project come down to the amount of color images (if any), how much stamping will be needed, and the material selected.

Generally, the cost for leather-bound is $225 per volume and the cost for buckram is $150 per volume

How long will it take?

The timeline can vary depending on how many projects are active. Typically, the standard turnaround time can be between 3-6 months. However, if this is a time sensitive project and you need to meet a deadline, the fastest this can be done is roughly 6-weeks. Keep in mind that all the major decisions need to be made in order to accomplish this timeline.

Is there an extra charge to put my project on “rush” (earlier than “standard”)?

No. Moving the priority up is free. I just need to know and we can plan accordingly.

Project: Thesis Binding
Had my thesis for school bound a few years ago and more recently got two bound copies for myself. Turnaround time and cost is much better than many binders nationwide. Great communication throughout process. Would recommend to anyone looking to bind a paper for school or for personal binding.

Project: Winery Logbook Portfolio
From introduction to completion, Jeff was a top notch professional! Every question we had was answered thoroughly and in an educational format. This helped guide us during the planning stage, along with his knowledge, expertise and attention to detail, created a wonderful wine log book with old world flavor. It took over 4,000 cuts to create the wrap-around effect on the leather. The color of the leather and the fantastic inner pages provide warm wine colors with the feeling the book has been around a long time. We will enjoy logging our wines for years to come. Great job Jeff!

Project: Tea Time (2 Volumes)
Working with Jeff and his team on my project was awesome. They listened to exactly what I needed, and made it happen. Their creative input was invaluable, and they worked with me to make a quick turnaround time happen. They were flexible and really created a beautiful piece that I'm proud to give as a gift. I can't recommend them more highly, and would work with them again if I needed to do another project.

Project: Academic Books
We are thrilled with the quality of Jeff's work. The leather is incredibly supple, soft to the touch, and just the right color for the books we had bound. The gold lettering was perfect for the look of the book as well. The books turned out so well for two reasons: Jeff took the time to sit down with us to make sure that he knew what we wanted, and he also is a truly skilled book binder and artisan who cares about his work. We're planning to have him work on more of our books!

How It Works

Making a book together is both fun and simple. Just follow these steps and contact us with your ideas. We can take it from there!

Inspirations

Gather together the ideas or images you'd like your book to look like. Whether it is a special edition you once saw in a collection, or simply a group of pictures that capture your idea. Colors are very important and we suggest have two primary colors in-mind for your project.

Collaborate

Send us your ideas and a general breakdown of what you'd like to have created. We will then work together every step of the way to bring your ideas to life.

Create

We develop a plan with you and determine how long the project will take, outlining the steps and materials necessary to accomplish our goals together. Then we make your book and keep you informed at every stage of the process.
